SCS

Secure Communication Service

An OPHelIE TM service

Secure and integrated messaging

SCS is a messaging service that enables the secure transmission of health information between clinicians, organizations, and patients.

The service is based on their QHR (Quebec Health Record) reference and can be integrated into local applications.

Une messagerie intégrée

SCS integrates into your existing user interfaces

Choose where and how to display information

EMR, PMS, EHR, etc.

The service can be integrated into existing systems, in the context of the patient's records, according to the applications' constraints and their users' preferences.

Fictitious example of an integration of communications in context

End-to-End Encryption - E2EE

Security, confidentiality

The security and confidentiality of health data are paramount considerations to which we attach the utmost importance. This is why a robust architecture is a must. But at the same time, this architecture must also offer a good level of user-friendliness. This is what SCS brings in.

End-to-End Message Encryption (E2EE) provides encryption in transit ("over the wire") and at rest ("in database"). Only the author and recipients can read the communication, thus eliminating any possibility of data breaches.

Encryption keys renewal

PGP, AES-GCM

Communications are encrypted by an algorithm combining PGP and AES-GCM. A one-time encryption key is generated for each message.

Electronic signature

Non-repudiation

Communications can be signed with the clinician's SécurSanté device, guaranteeing the author's identity and the non-repudiation of the messages exchanged.

Communications kept locally

… but not on OPHelIE

Messages exchanged are stored in the local systems (EMR, PMS, EHR) for a full trace thereof.

All communications are eliminated from the OPHelIE platform after confirmation of reading and archiving by the local systems. No message is permanently stored on our platform.

A software integration assistant

To further facilitate the integration of our services, we offer a library that can be deployed in local systems' infrastructures, in the form of a REST service or a JavaScript library.

The software integration assistant takes care of all the complexity of managing communications encryption; so local software developers just have to use the simple calls we’ve created. The code will be accessible to partners who will be able to audit it and see the robustness of the security and confidentiality mechanisms implemented.

FHIR REST API

  • REST API to be integrated into local applications (EMR, PMS, EHR)
  • Based on the international standard FHIR R4 (current normative version)
  • Extension of the HAPI FHIR server, a mature and up-to-date Open-Source server
  • Based on QHR references
  • Contextualized communications (patient, prescription, task, etc.)
  • Multiple recipients
  • Supports attachments of all types: Text, PDF, Images, QHR references, FHIR resources, etc.
  • Notification of arrival of new messages and read message indicator

The service is also available on mobile devices for patients, see Health Connect
